Frequently Asked Questions

Find fast answers to common questions about our emergency response, pricing, residential, commercial, and automotive locksmith services in the Phoenix Metro area.

General & Emergency

How fast can you get to my location?

We strive for rapid response times. Because our mobile units are stationed throughout the Phoenix Metro and East/West Valley areas, our average arrival time is typically between 20 to 30 minutes for emergencies, depending on traffic and your exact location.

Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

Yes. Picky Locksmith is a fully licensed, bonded, and insured business. Our technicians undergo strict background checks and continuous training to ensure your property and vehicles are handled with the utmost professional care.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express), as well as cash. Payment is due immediately upon the successful completion of the requested services.

Will you break my lock to get me in?

No, breaking a lock is always an absolute last resort. Our highly trained technicians use professional, non-destructive entry methods (such as lock picking or bypassing) for the vast majority of lockouts. We only drill a lock if it is broken, malfunctioning, or features extreme high-security measures that cannot be bypassed, and we will always ask for your authorization first.

Pricing & Quotes

How much will my locksmith service cost?

Pricing depends on the specific service, the complexity of the locks, or the year/make/model of your vehicle. We charge a standard service call fee to dispatch the technician, plus labor and parts. Check our Pricing Page for estimates, or simply call us for an accurate quote over the phone!

Do you charge extra for nights or weekends?

While we operate 24/7, services rendered during late-night hours, major holidays, or extreme weather conditions may incur a standard after-hours dispatch surcharge. Our dispatchers will always inform you of the exact service fee before sending a technician.

Residential & Commercial

Should I rekey my locks or replace them entirely?

If your current lock hardware is in good physical condition and operates smoothly, rekeying is almost always the most cost-effective option. We simply change the internal pins so old keys no longer work, and issue you new ones. You only need to replace the locks if they are broken, severely worn, or if you want to upgrade the style, color, or security level (e.g., upgrading to a smart lock).

Can you set up a Master Key system for my business?

Yes. We design, install, and maintain master key systems for commercial properties, offices, and apartment complexes. This allows you to have a single master key that opens all doors, while issuing sub-keys to employees that only open their specific designated offices.

Automotive Services

Can you make replacement car keys on-site?

Absolutely! Our mobile locksmith vans are equipped with state-of-the-art key cutting and computer programming machinery. We can generate standard metal keys, transponder keys, key fobs, and push-to-start proximity keys right where your vehicle is parkedโ€”no towing to the dealership required.

I lost all my car keys. Do you need an original to make a copy?

No, we do not need the original key. Using your vehicle’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) and our specialized software, we can cut and program a brand-new key from scratch.
